Dune 2 Is The ‘End’ Of Modern Cinema
It took a few weeks and about 5 viewings of Dune Part Two but these are just some of my thoughts on the film. This is not a critical analysis, I just wanted to talk for a little bit so if you enjoyed Dune 2 and find any value in this video, that's all I can ask for.

I Was Wrong About Anime After Blue Eye Samurai

Usually, art doesn’t have to tell you why its good, it just kinda shows you. Through an enchanting hum of colors and sequences, you may feel elevated, in ways that only good art seems to understand. It doesn’t have to take much, and sometimes just a little will do its job; that’s kind of the point isn’t it? To be moved unexpectedly. This is how Blue Eye Samurai moved me unexpectedly. Enjoy! #bl...

During episode 11 of Andor we are treated to the very moment at which Luthen and Saw agree to war on the Empire. This is a moment of immense weight and the way it was handled was subtle and wonderful. I cannot stop thinking about this scene, and how important it is to.... everything. So, I had to talk about it. Luthen and Saw are two keystones to the rebellion against the Empire, and if nothing...
We All Miss A Simpler Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones is one of my favorite fictional characters in cinematic history, and for good reason: his movies gave me a sense of adventure and were so cathartic for the simplest reasons. This video is just a love letter to his orig...

Dune together with Oppenheimer IS the new modern cinema. Old blockbuster's schemes were raped and overused during Marvel era so much it stopped working at all. And now we are having with huge, meditative, deep meaning, visual grandeur stories that attract the audience. It may be the dawn of new beautiful age in cinema art.

I've spent a large amount of time with the anime/mange medium. Give some of the classics a try like death note (I only consider the first 24 episodes to be part of the story), full metal alchemist brotherhood, and vineland saga. Some other non-anime animated series I liked were Castlevania, Arcane, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunner.

I’ve never witnessed a score be so closely attached to the sound design and visual storytelling of a film. I’m a composer/producer and my initial epiphany from Dune part II was in relation to the ground breaking, sound immersive, & overwhelmingly emotional music of Hans Zimmer. The 2nd & 3rd time I felt the visuals and story in a much stronger light. But not only is this a landmark in cinematic & sci-fi history, but in film music history. Sounds that transport you to the fictional universe and utterly sterilize your perception of what music for cinema & visual storytelling can be. Not only has Dennis and the brilliant team behind this film have set the bar for cinematic storytelling, but so has Hans & his team for every living breathing composer out there. I felt like a kid again in the theatre, something about the main love theme intimately sparked something deep & personal for me. I will never forget this experience, I’ll have to show it to my future children and say “yep, dad was there in the cinema when it first came out”

Almost perfect... save that one glaring and unfortunate casting error. I could feel the wokeness oozing off of her flat and singular dimensional performance... before I even looked to find out who she is. (hint if you don't know who she is, don't look now) Truly unfortunate. Oh and there is also one shot of a bag she puts down that has the current earth based plastic clips on it such as found on modern day packs. Took me out of the otherwise impeccable production design.

This is a crap film. Villeneuve really achieved something with both Arrival and BR2049. OMG did he drop the ball with Dune. And Chris Nolan is a laughing stock now btw after Oppenheimer. In the meantime his brother Jon has redeemed himself with Fallout after the mess of Westworld.

A lot of big words. Dune 2 was a ultimately a good movie in a desert. Sadly not such a great movie all on itself. A competent movie nonetheless. that left me, a long time reader of the original books, satisfied but not awed. Some elements were excellent depicted, the whole material in itself was thoroughly and with enough grace treated, there are layers into the execution that warrant discussion, but the movie didn't do enough to say something in particular, and in that regard missed the chance to be a real masterpiece. I think Blade Runner 2049 suffered from the same problem. Let's hope that Villeneuve will not miss future chances to do that, create the masterpiece that he saw in his dreams but somehow held back.

This is one of those things, like Start Wars, where I just don't get what everyone is on about. I completely fail to see what's good about this movie. I just felt like I'd been sitting for a while, observing something unremarkable. I did enjoy the first part, but the second completely missed the mark for me. The whole movie felt like a sequence of clips where the character does something over a long span of time to fast forward to a point in time where some goal has been achieved. At no point did it connect with me in any way - not the plot, not the characters. And that's with me forcing myself to suspend my disbelief - the world building doesn't do that for me at all.

The movie, as good cinematically as it was, is only a take, a version, a shadow of the vision Frank Herbert wrote into existence. I felt the movie was woefully inadequate compared to the book, the source of its genius seemed ignored by the director. His choices reflected current trends of our society, and belittled the message Frank Herbert conveyed in his writings.

A very pretentious style of "review" for a series simply better than most of modern tv shows. It is far from a masterpice. It is just better than the junk we got used to. And now we throw these loud words around, as if the series was some kind of revelation. For anyone who watches anything more complex than pop culture movies and mainstream media, the series is just OK
